Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills

Basic Leader TrainingThe Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills training is a hands-on program that gives adult leaders practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Imagine having hands-on knowledge about setting up a campsite, pitching a tent, hiking, outdoor cooking - all of the skills necessary to see the outdoor program of the Boy Scouts of America come to life.

The skills presented in this training will closely follow the Boy Scout Handbook so that new leaders are proficient in the basic outdoor skills through the First Class rank.

This training is part of the required training for a Scoutmaster or Assistant Scoutmaster to be considered "trained".

Another option for completing this training is through personal coaching. Please see the Coach's Guide to IOLS Personal Coaching Requires the Adobe Acrobat Reader for more information.
