Summer camp is about much more than personal growth and individual fun. We want your whole unit to benefit from your time with us. To this end, we have a variety of programs and awards designed to build group spirit and teamwork in your unit.

Troop Activities

All our camp-wide activities stress the importance of the unit in Scouting. We encourage you to bring troop and patrol flags to all events you attend as a group. Throughout the week, there will be opportunities to involve your entire unit working together as a team. Be sure to try some of the following:

  • Aquafest: Participate in a variety of fun activities at the waterfront and pool on Tuesday evening.
  • Troop Shoots: To give everyone an opportunity to shoot, sign your unit up for a session on the rifle or archery range.
  • Troop Swim: Reserve the pool for an activity of your own, or just come as a group for an Early Bird Swim or open swim.
  • Troop Canoeing: Sign up for your own time at the waterfront for a unit canoe adventure.
  • Troop Service Project: There are plenty of opportunities at Camp Lions for service to others and service to our camp. The Ecology / Conservation Director has a list of recommended conservation projects, and the Commissioner can provide needed equipment and help you make arrangements.

Patrol Activities

There are plenty of opportunities for patrols to work on challenging activities as a group. Among these are:

  • Patrol Challenges: Throughout the week we will have special activities in which patrols can compete against the clock or against other patrols.
  • Patrol Activities: Many activities available to troops are also open to patrols. The Program Director or Camp Commissioner will work with Patrol Leaders to meet any special interests or program needs.
  • Service Projects: A patrol can undertake service projects in the same way as a troop. In some cases, they may work as a team on a particular aspect of a troop project.

Free Time

Don't try to fill every moment with structured activities. Your Scouts will need some time to work on reports for merit badges, visit the Trading Post, and just relax or have a shower. You may also want to allow time for Scoutmaster conferences, patrol meetings, and other administrative functions.
