3/5/11- 2011 Boy Scout Resident Camp Documents Now Available!- Don't miss out on the summer of your life! The new Leader's Guide featuring six new merit badges (farm mechanics, automotive maintenance, geocaching, scouting heritage, cinematography, and photography). 12/6/10- Construction of the Dining Hall Renovation Starts!!- That's right, ground has been broken for the new dinning hall expansion and renovation at Pipsico Scout Reservation. When units show up to camp in 2011 they will see a completely different looking dining hall. An expanded front porch, new paint scheme, and new metal color roof are all included in this expansion! Please check back for more pictures and updates. Don't forget, we need your help to make this happen! Please fill out a commemorative brick form and make a lasting impression for you or someone special at Pipsico Scot Reservation. Be a part of history!
11/12/10- 2011 Camp Fees and Full Registration Forms Available!!!!- Your reservation form for Boy Scout Resident Camp can be found by clicking here. Cub Camp registration forms can be found by clicking here. Camp fees for Boy Scout and Cub Scout or Webelos Resident camp are also posted and updated for 2011. Don't forget about the James River Adventure Base, first registration is due by November 27th!
11/2/10- Hunter Safety Education Certification Available in 2011 !!! -
Pipsico Scout Reservation will be the ONLY Virginia Boy Scout summer camp in 2011
to offer Hunter Safety/Education Certification for youth through a partnership with the National Wild Turkey Federation, Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries, and the Boy Scouts of America. Scouts who complete, (or will complete by the end of camp) the Shooting Sports merit badges (Shotgun, Rifle, and Archery) and complete Fish and Wildlife Management merit badge have covered most of the requirements for the Virginia Hunter Safety/Education certification.
The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries will conduct a two to three hour seminar at the end of the camp week covering the remaining topics for hunter safety/education, and give the Hunter Education exam. Scouts who successfully completed all merit badges and pass the exam will receive their hunter education safety certificate, and a distinctive patch. Scouts who earned any or all merit badges (Fish & Wildlife Management, Shotgun, Rifle, Archery) prior to attending camp may also participate in the program by providing an individual advancement summary signed by their Scoutmaster showing which merit badges were previously earned. 8/8/10- Reserve Your Spot Today!!!!- You only have a few more weeks to lock in the 2010 rates for the 2011 season! Visit our Boy Scout forms page or our Cub Scout Forms Page to download the 2011 Reserve-a-spot forms. All forms must be submitted by August 31st, 2010.

8/8/10- FREE STEAK DINNER!!- Camp Lions has an awesome camping program planned for 2011. On August 23 the Boy Scout plan will be revealed; the Cub Scout plan will be unveiled on August 24. Blue Heron Lodge is hosting a dinner for the unit leaders and one other key individual on these two evenings at Scott Memorial United Methodist Church on First Colonial Rd. RSVP's will be handled by emailing Pam Vickrey (just click on her name). The dinners are by invitation only and each unit leader should have received one in the mail.
5/9/10- Be Tick Smart!!!- As the spring/ summer season "heats up" units are going out into the woods more and more to experience one of the fundamental elements of scouting, CAMPING. While in the woods at Pipsico Scout Reservation or even in your own back yard, it's important to be Tick Smart. You can find more information on statistics and good practices by clicking here.
