The above chart represents information turned in through April 15. Advancement reports should be a monthly routine. Filing a report (even if you have no advancements) will keep the unit on focus and offers the district advancement chairman an opportunity to concentrate on helping units whose members are not getting advanced. The district goal is 100% of Albemarle units having members advanced. Check your unit status on year to date advancements. Timely Advancement Reports The timeliness of unit advancement reports is always important. Internet Advancement is an available option to make your job easier. Advancement is what makes the difference between being a Scout and a member of another youth organization. Make sure that members are recognized quickly for their achievements. Informal announcements at regular meetings are the first step. Cub Scout advancements are awarded formally at pack meetings. The ideal schedule is monthly, usually during the fourth week. Check Program Helps in addition to leaders guides and Scouting Magazine for methods to accomplish the goals. Boy Scout advancement is awarded formally a courts of honor. In a troop annual plan, it is ideal to schedule quarterly courts of honor - giving the troop members a time frame to work toward their advancement. Advancements can be tracked manually, by purchased commercially designed systems or by entering on-line directly into the Scout's record. Learn more about it! Make advancement your unit priority.
