Scouting for Food

Albemarle will celebrate the 100th Birthday of Boy Scouts of America with a district wide food drive from February 20 - 27. County coordinators are needed to set the plan in motion. Contact Wade Creel or Dana Mott to sign up early.

Pinewood Derby Anyone?

The district will host its annual Pinewood Derby race on February 27 but the planning begins at the unit level with most races scheduled in January. The attached specs for car construction from the Council derby will insure that every boy's (or open race) car will meet the rules at every possible race level in Tidewater Council.

Celebrate the Successes - Rally for the Future

The Albemarle District Dinner is scheduled for March 6. Among other awards presented, the District Award of Merit will be the highlight of the evening. The District Award of Merit nomination form is available by clicking on this link and must be received at the Council Service Center (Attention Albemarle Awards, 1032 Heatherwood Dr, Virginia Beach, VA 23455) by February 4. Forms for other district recognitions will be available soon.

A Good Turn Daily . . .

North Carolina Forest Service has opportunities for Scouts to do A Good Turn by assisting in seed collection for the North Carolina Forest Nursery in Goldsboro. These seeds will start the next generation of re-forestation in areas where wetlands are being replaced as well as other locations.

Scouts can set up a time directly with Robb Davis Pasquotank County Ranger, or contact your county ranger by going to the NCDFR website, "contact us" tab and follow the direction to your county.

Confidentiality of Membership. The Boy Scouts of America has the responsibility to protect the confidentiality of the names and personal information of those who are affiliated with the movement. No commercial or unauthorized use is to be made of the lists (names, addresses, and other personal information) of members or of financial supporters, or those who answer surveys in connection with Scouting. The council does not authorize anyone to make copies, paper, electronic or by any other means any such lists for any reason without the permission of the Tidewater Council. When a list is needed it will be authorized and it shall be returned or destroyed. All such authorizations shall never exceed a one year time frame. Chartered organizations should take care to guard the lists that contain their members.
